The 2008 Gubernatorial Elections – IT Agendas Suggest Likely Investment Areas for 2009  (Nov 2008)

This Industry Insight report examines state-by-state the IT agendas of the 11 governors-elect and provides insight into how these agendas can provide clues into all of the governors’ IT agendas.

Description

This was the second-busiest year of the four-year gubernatorial election cycle with eleven contests in states containing roughly 12% of the nation’s population. In general, both parties mostly consolidated gubernatorial and legislative control in states that have become their “home turf.” The range of geography and population represented by these states provides solid evidence that IT is here to stay and will continue to see a steady increase in its prominence over time. Medicaid, public safety, e-government, and health IT were among the most popular policy areas for IT investment.
