Description

At the beginning of each federal fiscal year, INPUT identifies and assesses the top 10 federal set-aside contract opportunities for the coming year. This report serves to uncover key trends implied in the makeup of opportunities from one year to the next and to assist vendors in their business development planning.

The FY 2009 Top 10 list exceeds $8.5 billion in total ceiling value and includes dedicated set-aside prime contract opportunities, as well as contract vehicles established specifically to target small businesses.

This report a must-have for leaders in the small business market. The passage of a federal budget brought an end to two years of Continuing Resolutions and spending, particularly in the Civilian agencies, picked up pace accordingly. Pressure from Congress, meanwhile, did nothing to slow the overall trend toward federal purchasing through large contract vehicles rather than via open-market competition. On the other hand, opportunities in this year's report from the professional services, O&M, and IT markets demonstrate the diversity of requirements for small businesses.
