INPUT/Output:
The Real Value of Alliant: Vendors Should Temper Expectations (Aug 2007)
This INPUT/Output® report examines the trend in usage of major contract vehicles and the motivations of agencies to set an appropriate expectation for vendors
Description
Beginning with the release of a draft RFP in March, 2005, vendors have been lining up teams and investing heavily in bid and proposal activities to secure a slot on the $50 billion GSA Alliant Government Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC). Yet, like other multiple award, task order-oriented contracts, the awards represent nothing more than a license to sell, for which marketing and business development support are still required. All the while, major agencies have been shifting their IT dollars to internal task order contracts to avoid GSA’s management fees and provide tighter controls on their own procurement activities.
With this in mind, vendors should be asking what to expect in terms of business under the new Alliant GWAC and what agencies are likely to be the best targets.
This INPUT/Output® report examines the trend in usage of major contract vehicles and the motivations of agencies to set an appropriate expectation for vendors.
