GSA Schedule 70 – 2008-09 Local Purchasing Surges with Economic Downturn  (Apr 2009)

The economic downturn has resulted in a surge of local government (including school districts) technology purchasing off GSA Schedule 70.

Description

Total U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 70 orders by state and local governments in federal fiscal year (FFY) 2008 were $521.8 million. Sales orders during the first quarter (Q1) of FFY 2009 are 40% above the same quarter last year.

INPUT projects that state and local purchasing off this schedule will enjoy a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32.7%, surpassing $2.0 billion by 2014.

Using data provided by GSA, this State & Local Industry Insights report examines GSA Schedule 70 orders under the special technology item categories placed by state and local governments during the time period from FFY 2008 back to FFY 2003, when the schedule was first opened to state and local governments.

This report, delivered in PowerPoint format for ready use, is ideal for companies assessing the real or potential value of local government business development via the schedule.
