Tom Pyke
Chief Information Officer
U.S. Department of Energy

The DOE is a priority for the current administration, evidenced by both an increase in traditional funding and its receipt of large amounts of stimulus funds. In the coming fiscal years the vendor community can look to the DOE to lead new and innovative projects in smart grid and green technologies.

Tom Pyke serves as the Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). In this role, Pyke leads the department's management of information technology (IT), ensuring that the department acquires and manages its IT resources to provide strong support for DOE missions. Pyke has led the DOE in revitalizing its cybersecurity program and improving its IT capital investment review and enterprise architecture processes. Pyke is currently focusing the DOE's efforts into areas such as cloud computing, Web 2.0, and collaborative social networking systems to improve their internal service and communicate more efficiently with the public.

Topics will include :
  • How Pyke ensures the DOE and manages its IT resources
  • Current challenges within the DOE, and how this will affect the technology vendor community
  • Challenges and opportunities facing the CIO’s office in the coming fiscal year

The event will also feature Brian Haney, Senior Vice President, Member Services for INPUT, who will identify major technology investments within the U.S. Department of Energy and top opportunities for technology vendors in 2010.
