Robert Carey serves as the sixth Chief Information Officer for the Department of the Navy. As the DON CIO, Mr. Carey is the senior Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) official in the Department. He provides top-level advocacy for the Secretary of the Navy and develops strategies, policies, plans, architectures, standards and guidance and provides process transformation support for the entire Department of the Navy.

During this session Robert Carey will address:
  • His role as Chief Information Officer for the Department of the Navy
  • Upcoming technology opportunities, and a status update on major technology investments within the Department of the Navy
  • Efforts to ensure that the development and acquisition of IT systems are interoperable and consistent with the Department's objectives and vision

The event will also feature John Slye, Principal Analyst for INPUT, who will identify major technology investments within the Department of the Navy and top opportunities for technology vendors in 2009.
