The Air Force has decided to fold the much anticipated $2 billion recompete of the ICE2 contract held by General Dynamics into the upcoming Solutions for Information Technology Enterprise (SITE) procurement.
This marks the end of #8 of INPUT's Top 20 Federal Opportunities for FY 2008, though the likely ascent of SITE into a major new contract vehicle for the Intelligence Community.
Work in the Intel Community can be hard to come by. Companies with customer relationships in the Intel community are frequently acquired primarily for those relationships. With the decision not to recompete the ICE2 contract, SITE is poised to be a major contract vehicle for the intelligence community. This is good news for many vendors is ICE2 is a contract long held by a single vendor (General Dynamics), while SITE is expected to be have multiple awards opening up opportunities for other vendors to pursue tasks previously reserved for General Dynamics.
