Federal Spending on Task Order Vehicles Continues Upward March

According to INPUT's analysis of the new fiscal year 2007 federal procurement spending data, federal spending on task order contract vehicles, such as GSA-managed governmentwide acquisition contracts (GWACs) and agency-managed task order vehicles, such as SeaPort and ITES, increased by 39% over 2006.

As expected, the majority of the increase came from non-GSA vehicles. In particular, the Army's CR2 contracts and the Navy's Seaport contracts received nearly $1 billion and $1.6 billion in increased annual spending respectively from 2006 to 2007.

All told, over $6 billion was added to task order vehicle spending in 2007 representing nearly 10% of the federal technology budget.
